Mahakaleshwar Mandir Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh

Mahakaleshwar Mandir, Ujjain is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is located near a lake and has five levels, one of which is underground. The Shiva linga is worshipped and idolized all over India as it symbolises Shiva’s incarnate power on this earth. One of the main rituals performed in this temple is the Bhasm Arti that involves smearing the linga with hot ashes from the burning ghats (cremation grounds). Apart from the Mahakaleshwar Mandir, the other touirst places in the city are Mangalnaath, Harsidhhi (Durga Temple), Kaal Bhairav, Triveni (Nav Graha/ Shani), ISKCON Temple, Gadh Kalika, Sandipani Ashram and Chintaman Ganesh.

Rangaji Temple Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh

Rangaji Temple Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh, is the largest temple in Vrindavan and was built in 1845 by Seth Govind Das. An amalgam of Rajput and South Indian temple architecture, the temple is dedicated to Lord Ranganatha or Rangaji depicted as Lord Vishnu in his Sheshashayi pose, resting on the coils of the sacred Shesha-nag. The temple built in the Dravidian style has a tall gopuram (gateway) of six storeys and a gold plated Dhwaja Stambha, 50 feet high. A water tank and a picturesque garden lie within the temple enclosure.

Gorakhnath Temple Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh

The Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur is named after the Guru Gorakhnath achieved prosperity in this city and also influenced followers with his teachings. It is said that this temple was built on the spot where Gorakhnath did meditation in Treta Yug.This apart, the records of the temple shows that the Gorakhpur Temple Gorakhnath structure and shape change in the period of time. In fact, many attempts were made to destroy this temple during the reign of the Mughal emperors. Today, the shape and form in which this temple is said to have been seen in late Mahant Digvijaynath concept and the current head priest of the temple Mahant Aveiydyanath.

Laxmi Narayan Temple Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh
