About MGR Memorial :

MGR Memorial, built in memory of former actor cum politician of Tamil Nadu, MG Ramachandran, is located in T. Nagar. It was the official residence of MGR for more than 20 years.

MGR Memorial, inaugurated by Mrs. Janaki MGR in the year 1990, is maintained by the MGR Memorial Charitable Trust. Several memorabilia related to the life of MGR like photographs, spectacles, pen, the ‘Bharath Ratna’ and other medals, letters, doctorate degree certificate, swords, spears, heavy wooden clubs, camera, etc. are on display here.

The music from his films is played constantly, filling the environment of MGR Memorial with his memories. There is a bronze statue of MGR near the entrance.

MGR Memorial House, located in Arcot Street, T. Nagar, is one of the memorial houses that can be visited during your trip to Chennai. Opened in 1990 for public viewing, this memorial house is dedicated to actor cum politician of Tamil Nadu, MGR Ramachandran, who lived in the house for more than two decades.

At the very entrance of the memorial house, you can get to see a dark green colored car, which still has the number plate intact on it. The monument houses all the belongings used by MGR Ramachandran, which are perfectly placed. Besides, you can even get a glimpse of his MLA identification card, pen, “Bharath Ratna” medal, his well-known cap and dark glasses as well as his doctorate degree certificate.
