Amar Mahal Palace in Jammu & Kashmir

Amar Mahal, located in Jammu, is a palace depicting grandeur of an erstwhile era. It was constructed by a French architect for Raja Amar Singh, belonging to the Dogra dynasty. The architecture of this marvelous palace resembles the grand Chateaus of France. The beautiful palace of Amar Mahal is made of red sand stone which is a real visual treat. The scenic background of the place enhances the beauty of this palace manifolds. The stunning sight of River Tawi flowing below and the Shivaliks in the north will surely make your heart skip a beat or two. Dr. Karan Singh donated this palace to the charitable trust of Hari-Tara. At present, this trust is responsible for the maintenance of this palace. In fact, Amar Mahal Palace at present has been transformed into a museum. It also plays host to a well stocked library.

Shey Palace and Monastery in Ladakh , Jammu & Kashmir

Shey Palace Leh is located in the small town of Shey on the Leh-Manali highway, about 15 Kms south of Leh. The palace was built five centuries ago. The notable features of this palace are; it’s architecture, the unique three storey statue of Shakyamuni Buddha, and the breathtaking view from the palace. It is believed that this palace served as a summer retreat for the then King of Ladakh. This magnificent structure which once embodied the prowess of the kingdom called Ladakh is now in a ruined state.

Narkanda in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh

Narkanda is a picturesque town in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. At an elevation of 2708 meters above sea level, Narkanda is accessible through the Hindustan Tibet Road or the NH 22. You can hire a cab from Shimla that lies at a distance of around 65 km from Narkanda. This place in Himachal Pradesh is mainly a retreat for adventure sports lovers as there are many opportunities for trekking, rock climbing and skiing during winter.

Shalimar Bagh in Srinagar, Jammu & kashmir

Shalimar Bagh is one of the beautiful gardens in Srinagar, which is regarded as the monument of love. It was built in 1616 by Mughal Emperor Jahangir for his wife, Nur Jahan. This garden houses four terraces, fountains and a canal. The highest terrace at this site is known as ‘Abode of Love’, which was used by the emperor and royal ladies. This bagh is also called as Garden of Char Minar, Faiz Baksh and Farah Baksh.
