About Tezu :
Tezu is an administrative headquarters of Lohit District in Arunachal Pradesh. Situated just 25 kms away from the famous Parasuram Kund Lake, it is a perfect hill station to chill out with family and friends. It is located at an elevation of 185 metres (606 feet) above the sea level.
Famous for its scenic beauty, adventure enthusiasts can enjoy trekking, hiking and river rafting in Tezu also. There are also facilities for trekking from Tezu to glow lake which takes one day, hiking and river rafting and angling on the river Lohit.
The hill station is home to indigenous tribes like Mishmi, Khamti, Digaru and Miju. Among the famous is, Mishmi Tribes, which have traditions and customs dating back to the Mahabharata times. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna’s first queen Rukmini was a Mishmi Damsel. Mishmi tribes still have a King and Queen residing in Tezu.

Tezu is a town that is located in the Lohit district of the state of Arunachal Pradesh. The main inhabitants of the town are the Mishmi tribe. The culture and traditions of the tribe date back many centuries and one can see many different festivals in the place as well. Tamladu Puja is the main Mishmi festival and this takes place on the 15th of February every year. This is an exciting experience for visitors and one can see different people from nearby areas during the festival time. The place is also popular among Hindu pilgrims and many people travel here to take a dip in the Holy Parsuram Kund. This is done to cleanse one’s sins and purify the soul.
During the month of January one can witness an annual fair that is held here and this is also a good time to visit the place. You can also visit the Tibetan Camp that is located in the town and there are numerous items that you can purchase at the bazaar that is located inside the Lama Camp. There are a few Tibetan monasteries that are located here as well and these are good places to visit while travelling to the town of Tezu.

While the former is celebrated mainly by the Mish, on 15th February, the Khamtis celebrate the latter on 14th of April. A handsome fair is held in January every year on the eve of Makar Sankranti when pilgrims from all over the country come to take a dip in Parasuram Kund in Tezu.
Tezu is also visited by tourists for trekking, river rafting and hiking. Some of the accommodations of Tezu are Circuit House, Tourist Lodge, Inspection Bungalow, etc. The best time to visit Tezu is from November to Februar.

Located at 27.92° N latitude and 96.17° E longitude, Tezu is the administrative headquarters of Lohit District. The nearest airport to Tezu is at Dibrugarh and Guwahati. There are plenty of roadways options to reach Tezu. Tourists can take bus from Dhola or Tinsukia and cross some rivers like Digaru or Noa-dehing to reach Tezu. Arunachal Pradesh state transport service also provides buses for Tezu from Tensukia. There are two check posts, each at Dirak(65 kms from Tezu) and Sunpura(30 kms from Tezu).

Nearest Airport is Tezu (20 km) served by Vayudoot. Indian Airlines, Sahara & NEPC Airlines touch Dibrugarh (140 km) on alternate day.
Nearest Rail-head is Tinsukia (120 km)
Daily bus services are available from Tinisukia (140 km) via Namsai and by ferry from Dholaghat to Sadia and by bus for Sacha for Tezu and Bhismaknagar.
