Jambulinga Temple In Karnataka

The Jambulinga Temple was built in Nagara style which closely resembles the Hucchimalli Guddi at Aihole. The Galaganatha temple was built a century later in the architecture style of Rekha Nagara Prasada which contains a sculpture of Lord Shiva killing the demon Andhakasura.

About Jambulinga Temple :

This temple situated in Pattadakal is believed to have been built in the seventh century and is one of the most beautiful and important temples belonging to the Chalukyan dynasty. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and he is present in the form of a Shivalinga in this temple. Idols of Lord Sun and Lord Vishnu can also be seen in this temple. They have been placed in different directions. This temple is also based on the North India’s Nagar style of architecture.

Attractions Of Jambulinga Temple In Karnataka :

It is a small temple compared to the other temples in Pattadakal. Its shikhara is similar to the ones that later on inspired the temples of Orissa. The temples of Orissa and central India have their own distinct style, which resembles a range of mountains with shikharas over subsidiary halls also rising up towards the central shikhara. The Jambulinga temple has a projecting horseshoe shaped arch bearing the image of the dancing Shiva.

Jambulinga Temple is a small temple, which enshrines an exquisite image of Dancing Lord Shiva, with Goddess Parvati and Nandi Bull by His side. It has been built with a northern style tower, which has a horseshoe-arched projection on its facade.
